I’m starting a blog. Or technically, I’m starting a blog that I’ve attempted to revive at least twice in the last two years. The Kaleidoscope is always something I’ve wanted to make into a space where I can talk about all the things that would usually just be left sitting in the tangle of my mind.
I guess I should start with the first question — who am I? Well, I’m Olivia. I’m officially unemployed after finishing my masters and find myself in the exact same place I was two years ago when I finished my undergraduate. I want to be writer of some sort but have no idea how to decide what sort. I should probably make a decision before destitution rears in inevitable head. I love speculative fiction. Anything that could happen in a galaxy far-far away or on a cross dimensional plane is my cup of tea. I am a pessimist. I always see the glass a half empty and constantly ponder how the world will eventually doom itself. I love crisps and would happily give my soul for a lifetime supply. I am also a “raging feminist” who is not happy with the current status of women.
I’ve always wanted my own little piece of the internet, and pretty aesthetics aside (sorry I just love my WordPress theme!), being able to share my writing is something I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve toyed with ideas and experimented with many niches and finally come up with something I’m happy with. There are many nay-sayers and think pieces lamenting that the blogging medium is dying a slow and regretfully death; that creating a blog is a pretty futile endeavour in 2019. I’m still going to do it anyway….
So, what can you expect from The Kaleidoscope? I want to discuss lifestyle topics, from how to find your personal style to how to organise every detail of your existence. I want to write about books, music or anything that is considered culture. I want this blog to be a place where I can untangle my thoughts and hopefully bring you on the journey with me. I also want this to be a space where I can talk about being a woman and the myriad of things this entails. There are so many things I want to talk about, and this is the place to do it.
So here it is. Welcome to my blog (or the thousandth reincarnation of it!). I hope you will find something for you here, whatever that may be. I look forward to seeing where I can take blog.
